Welcome to the future .......with a little help from the past!

A well designed salmon spey rod is esentially a spring, loaded with two hands working in equal and opposite force to generate a bend under pressure which releases energy and shoots the line. Apart from tournament casters most speycasters never fully exploit this basic principal....Our "Trebuchet" design will help you to do just that!

The Speymaster Trebuchet increases the load bearing by adding up to four tungsten weights into the butt of the blank (the number required depends on the weight of the reel and the casting style of the angler) which helps the rod spring reach its optimum position. The Trebuchet series essentially drives more energy into the blank and results in longer casts without using any more force than a conventional rod.

In order for the rods to withstand the extra load we have developed a blank manufactured using a high modulus carbon integrated with a new Uni-Directional carbon fibre cloth which not only adds enormous strength but keeps the weight of the blank as low as possible.

In keeping with our traditional ideas of building beautiful fly rods we have spared no expense, using the best components and finishes: The reel seats and guides are manufactured from pure TITANIUM and the blanks are finished in a Green/Brown pearlescent varnish similar to that used by Lamborghini for their supercars!
